Eddie Hellerman is a graduate of Bidwell Training Center's Chemical Lab Technician program. Today, he works as a technician for PPG Industries, Inc.
Eddie's typical day includes performance testing to help make stronger and safer adhesives for the future of the aerospace and automotive industries. His work supports the forefront of research and innovations 1 to 10 years in the making, in areas such as structural adhesives, aerospace sealants, and industrial coatings.
His story began in Clairton, PA, where Eddie attended Clairton High School and graduated without a clear plan or direction. After earning a degree in business management, he learned about Bidwell Training Center's program offerings from a friend, and an entire world opened up to him — one where he could actually achieve his dream of working within a scientific research community.
A significant point of pride for Eddie is the opportunity to contribute to a world of research and information. One of his greatest passions lies in educating children about science and fostering career awareness that may otherwise be inaccessible to them. Eddie actively serves as co-chair of PPG's highly acclaimed Science Education Council, which offers STEM programs and grants to K-12 schools in the region. Through this role, he is dedicated to inspiring young minds and providing opportunities for them to explore the world of science and pursue future careers in STEM fields.
